Elevating the Everyday

There is pressure to reduce space standards in new homes in London, apparently to help alleviate the crisis of housing provision. Micro-homes may provide utilitarian necessities for living but this can be at the expense of taking pleasure in everyday activities.

Homes should not just be places to go after work. Small spaces can be rewarding.

Reducing space standards means that opportunities for enjoyment are restricted in the home, particularly those activities enjoyed with others.

This project elevates a site of everyday activity - the bath.

In the Haggerston Bath, a group of people may gather round the water or individuals may bathe privately.
